France/Sélune River : the large Roche qui boit dam removed

As part of the largest dam removal in Europe / even wordlwide (volume), the demolition of the 15 m high dam ‘La Roche qui boit’ on the river Sélune has started. The Sélune, a historic salmon river, is located in Normandy (Baie Saint Michel). V ideos and more photos will follow as soon as possible.

Two years ago, the 37 m high dam of Vezins was already dismantled. This was only a few kilometres upstream from the Roche qui boit dam.

It is expected that the demolition will be completed before the end of 2022 and that the first salmon could come back in the Sélune after 100 years fo the first time.
