The removal of the Roche qui Boit dam on the Sélune is postponed for technical reasons

The demolition work on the Roche-qui-Boit dam was supposed to begin in winter 2021 following the removal of sediments in the reservoir, and to be completed in winter 2022. The emptying and deconstruction work has already been delayed, since the emptying was originally scheduled to begin in April 2021.

A new schedule for the work was announced on October 1, 2021 by the Minister of Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili. The minister announced the postponement of the emptying of the dam to the spring of 2022 in accordance with the recommendations of the OFB to limit the risks downstream, particularly in the event of flooding.

If this second postponement is justified from a technical point of view, the ERN-SOS Loire Vivante association will remain vigilant to ensure that this unprecedentedly large-scale project is carried out as soon as possible in 2022.
